We are seeking recommendations for individuals to be considered for the 2023 King Charles III Coronation Medal, which recognizes significant contributions in Delta, British Columbia, or across Canada. This prestigious Medal celebrates individuals who have impacted their communities or the country or brought international recognition to Canada through outstanding achievements.

About the Medal:

The 2023 Coronation Medal was designed by the Canadian Heraldic Authority, approved by His Majesty The King, and manufactured by the Royal Canadian Mint. The obverse features a contemporary effigy of His Majesty King Charles III in coronation robes, with the inscriptions “CHARLES III DEI GRATIA REX” and “CANADA.” The reverse depicts the Royal Cypher and the coronation date “6-V-2023” with “VIVAT REX” on a sunburst design. The Medal is suspended from a ribbon with dark blue, bright red, and white colours reminiscent of the 1902 Edward VII Coronation Medal.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for nomination, individuals must have:

• Made significant contributions to Delta, British Columbia, or Canada or achieved outstanding recognition abroad that brings credit to Canada;
• Been alive on May 6, 2023, the date of His Majesty’s Coronation (posthumous nominations are accepted if the individual was alive on this date);
• The Medal may only be awarded once.

Recommendation Guidelines:

We seek recommendations for individuals who have helped shape modern Canada, including youth, volunteers, educators, veterans, and healthcare workers. Please consider recommending individuals who have demonstrated long service or exceptional achievements and distinguished themselves from others in their field. Recommendations should also reflect the diversity of our community, particularly under-represented groups.
