Delta Youth Council Chair | Jannat

Jannat is currently a first-year student in the Faculty of Arts at UBC. She joined the Delta Youth Council in 2020, which sparked her interest in politics. Not only has the council helped her find what she is passionate about, it has also allowed her to meet tons of great people and learn as well as advocate for both local and global issues alongside like-minded youth whilst honing her leadership skills. Did you know she is actually Batman ?

Delta Youth Administration | Gurnoor

Gurnoor is in her senior year at Delview secondary. She joined the DYC in 2022 with the hopes of further exploring her passion for politics and diplomacy, and to be a part of youth voices. The DYC has provided her the opportunities to meet new, like-minded people and to help make a difference in the community through volunteer work in youth-led initiatives. Some fun facts about Gurnoor are that she loves history, literature and classical music!

Delta Youth Outreach Coordinator | Ria

Ria is a Grade 12 student who is currently attending Delview Secondary. She joined the Delta Youth Council in 2022. Her passion and interest in law and politics as well as her involvement in DYC has given her a chance to make positive impacts on youth in her community and to improve her community overall. DYC has given her an opportunity to meet and become acquainted with other youth during meetings to share and collaborate ideas and opinions. Some fun facts about Ria are that she loves to read books as well as write stories and essays, she dreams to visit Italy one day, specifically Lake Como, and she is very interested in and loves cinematography!

Delta Youth Outreach Coordinator | Megan

Megan is a Grade 12 student who joined the Delta Youth Council in 2022 and has been actively supporting and advising since then. Megan is passionate about improving her community and addressing issues young people in Canada face. Her drive to better her community and interest in government drove her to be a part of DYC, which has given her the opportunity to go above and beyond when helping her community and has led her to make amazing connections with like minded youth and foster relationships with community leaders. Some fun facts about Megan are that she loves history and geography, her dream vacation destination is Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and she recently had the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. as a Youth Ambassador from Canada!

Delta Youth Social Media Coordinator | Neama

Neama is a Grade 12 student from Delview Secondary. Since joining the Delta Youth Council in 2022, she has been passionate about bettering her community by taking initiative in several youth-led events. Joining the council has provided Neama with amazing opportunities to connect with her peers to advocate for improvements in her community and voice her concerns. Being a part of the council has also played a significant role in enhancing her leadership skills and building her confidence. Some fun facts about Neama are that she loves shopping, doing makeup, and her favorite artist is Drake!

Delta Youth Social Media Coordinator | Amolak

Amolak is a 12th grade student at Seaquam Secondary. Wanting to be more involved in his community, he joined the youth council in 2020. He’s enjoyed the experience and it has helped him grow his interpersonal and communication skills. Helping plan events has become one of his favourite aspects as well as making meaningful connections with youth who share the same passions. Fun fact: he’s always listening to music!

Delta Youth Social Media Coordinator | Barnoor

Barnoor joined the DYC in hopes of strengthening her leadership roles, and she has played a big role in the team. She joined DYC in Grade 10, and has been an active member ever since! Her role as the social media coordinator is to post fun pictures of the team and provide information about upcoming events on DYC’s social media platforms. Joining the council has impacted Barnoor on levels she never imagined. She has made great friends along the way, and has actively engaged in events. Some fun facts about Barnoor are that she enjoys traveling, shopping, and motorsports!
