The MORISON Brothers
The attached picture of is of my dad and his 3 brothers in Winnipeg before they went to war.
From left to right:
Arthur Rex Morison (my dad) - was demobilized in 1940 for medical reasons, he never was in active battle
Major Herbert Cecil James Morison - born in 1918. Attended the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario and served with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He died in action in Germany on February 8, 1945. His grave is in the Netherlands. At the Royal Military College there is a stained-glass window in his memory -
Stained Glass Window – Ex-cadets are named on the Memorial Arch at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario and in memorial stained-glass windows to fallen comrades. 2536 Maj Herbert Cecil James Morison (RMC 1936) was the son of Maj. J. B. Morison, E.D., and Lydla M. Morison, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He served with the Royal Canadian Artillery, 12 Field Regt. He died on Feb 8, 1945 at 27 years of age. He was buried in the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
Major John Duncan Michell Morison - born 1910. Was the Chief Paymaster in Italy. He was awarded a "Mention in Despatches" by the King in recognition of gallant and distinguished services.
Lieutenant Charles Stuart Barty Morison - born 1914, Served with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. Was killed in action in Normandy, France and this is also where he is buried.
